Venezuela turns to virtual currency amid inflation

People in Venezuela are turning to virtual currency to pay for food and other necessities as political turmoil sends the South American nation deeper into crisis.Hyperinflation has gripped the economy amid the ongoing clash between President Nicolas Maduro and US-backed opposition leader Juan Guaido.

Shortages of food and medicine continue to send prices soaring.

The opposition says Venezuela’s inflation rate hit an annual 2.29 million percent in February.
